1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using CovertX ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms apply to all users of CovertX, including free and Pro users.

CovertX is developed by Crypton Studio ("we," "us," or "our"). Questions or concerns can be directed to support@cryptonstudio.app.

2. Description of Service

CovertX is a hidden file vault application for Android that:

• Encrypts and stores files (photos, videos, audio, documents) locally on your device using AES-256-CBC
• Provides an encrypted SQLCipher database for file metadata, protected by your PIN
• Offers a decoy vault feature allowing you to create a separate PIN that reveals a fake vault (Pro)
• Captures silent selfies via the front camera on repeated failed PIN attempts as an intruder detection mechanism (Pro)
• Provides PIN and biometric authentication for app access
• Prevents screenshots and screen recording inside the app via FLAG_SECURE
• Performs secure file deletion by overwriting files with random bytes before removal

3. Account Registration

CovertX does not require account registration. There is no sign-up, login, or personal profile. The App operates entirely on your device. Pro status is verified through your Google Play account via RevenueCat — no CovertX account is created or required.

4. Free Tier and Pro Upgrade

Free Tier: The free version of CovertX allows importing up to 20 files with AES-256 encryption, PIN lock, and album organisation. Free users see advertisements served by Google AdMob.

Pro Upgrade: An in-app purchase unlocks unlimited file storage, decoy vault, intruder detection and break-in log, biometric authentication, per-album PIN lock, and an ad-free experience. The Pro upgrade is a one-time lifetime purchase processed through Google Play Billing via RevenueCat, and is subject to Google's payment terms.

Free Trial: A 7-day free trial of Pro is offered on first purchase. If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged. Trial availability may vary by region.

Refunds: Refund requests for in-app purchases are handled primarily by Google Play. We will honour refund requests submitted within 48 hours of purchase if a Pro feature is materially defective on your device. Contact us at support@cryptonstudio.app to request a refund review.

Price changes: We reserve the right to change pricing at any time. Changes do not affect existing lifetime purchases.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use CovertX only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws. You must not use CovertX to:

• Store, conceal, or protect content that is illegal under applicable law, including but not limited to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), content related to terrorism, or stolen data
• Evade lawful legal processes, court orders, or law enforcement activity in jurisdictions where such evasion is unlawful
• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App (except as permitted by applicable law)
• Circumvent, disable, or interfere with the App's security or encryption features
• Bypass the Pro paywall through unauthorised means or distribute cracked versions
• Use the App for any purpose that violates another person's rights, including privacy rights
• Distribute modified versions of the App without our written consent

Important: The intruder detection feature (silent selfie capture) must only be used on your own device. Using CovertX on a device you do not own to capture photos of individuals without consent may violate privacy laws in your jurisdiction. You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of CovertX complies with local laws.

6. User Responsibility for Encrypted Content

CovertX is a neutral encryption tool. You are solely responsible for:

• The legality of any files you import and encrypt within CovertX
• Maintaining secure backups of your files — CovertX does not back up your data anywhere
• Remembering your PIN — if you forget your PIN, your encrypted files are permanently inaccessible. We cannot recover them under any circumstances.
• The consequences of losing access to your device without a backup

Data loss warning: If you uninstall CovertX, forget your PIN, or lose your device without exporting your files, all vault content is permanently and irrecoverably lost. There is no reset mechanism — this is by design for maximum security.

7. Intellectual Property

The App, including its source code, design, graphics, logos, the CovertX name, and all other content, is the intellectual property of Crypton Studio and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on your personal Android device in accordance with these Terms.

This licence does not include: selling, reselling, or sublicensing the App; using the App's name, logo, or branding for commercial purposes; creating derivative works based on the App without our written consent.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

CovertX is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to:

• Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Guarantees that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or completely secure against all threats
• Guarantees that AES-256 encryption cannot be broken under all future computing advances
• Guarantees that the decoy vault feature will satisfy all legal or regulatory requirements in every jurisdiction
• Guarantees that intruder detection will capture a usable photo in all circumstances (e.g., poor lighting, camera coverage)

While we use industry-standard AES-256 encryption and security best practices, no security system is guaranteed to be absolutely unbreakable under all circumstances.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Crypton Studio shall not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Permanent data loss resulting from forgotten PINs, device failure, or uninstallation
• Loss of data, profits, business, or goodwill arising from your use of the App
• Damages arising from device compromise, OS vulnerabilities, or hardware failures that bypass the App's protections
• Legal consequences arising from your use of the App's features in jurisdictions where those features may be regulated
• Failure of the intruder detection feature to capture an identifiable image

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App.

10. Third-Party Services

The App integrates third-party services including Google AdMob, Firebase, RevenueCat, and Google Play Billing. Your use of these services is governed by the respective providers' terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party providers.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the App at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, third parties, or for any other reason in our sole discretion.

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device. Note: uninstalling the App permanently deletes all vault content. Lifetime Pro purchases are non-refundable after 48 hours except where required by law.

12. Updates and Changes to the App

We may release updates to the App from time to time via Google Play. Some updates may be required to continue using the App or certain features. We reserve the right to modify, add, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the App at any time.

We may revise these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified through the App or Google Play release notes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts located in India.
